Meet Lewis, Friends of Youth's Leasing and Facilities Coordinator for our Young Adult Affordable Housing program at Iva Place in Kirkland. Every day, Lewis witnesses how safe and stable housing can transform lives. For many young people, especially those impacted by racism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, immigration-related barriers, or family rejection, housing represents far more than shelter. These intersecting factors often contribute to ongoing trauma and housing instability, underscoring the critical need for a safe home that provides a foundation for healing, stability, and hope.

At this year's Celebration of Youth, we are focused on building a better future rooted in equity and opportunity. That future starts by ensuring every young person has access to the resources they need to thrive: safe housing, mental health support, welcoming environments that honor their identities, and pathways to stability.

But we cannot do this work alone. It takes all of us advocates, donors, volunteers, employees, and young people themselves working together to shape systems that are inclusive, responsive, and built to last.

Supporting youth means walking alongside them as they navigate challenges and pursue their goals. It means creating environments where they feel seen, valued, and encouraged to thrive. Together, we can help break cycles of homelessness and marginalization, and build a community where every young person has the opportunity to experience belonging and hope.

We invite you to be part of this shared effort—because lasting change grows stronger when we move forward together

Donate today and join us in building a future where every youth has the chance to be safe, thrive and belong.
