Friends of Youth is grateful to the Northwest Children’s Foundation for awarding our Transitional Living Services for young parents at New Ground Sandpoint, a grant of $100,000 over the next three years. Northwest Children’s Foundation invests in effective prevention, intervention, and treatment programs aimed at interrupting the intergenerational cycle of child abuse, trauma, and neglect.
New Ground Sandpoint (NGSP) serves single, female-identified youth who are experiencing homelessness and parenting one child. Parenting youth are between 18 – 24 and their children are between birth and three. NGSP provides families with a safe place to live for up to 24 months. Clients receive services that include onsite case management, employment and education support, access to behavioral health and substance use services, support navigating benefit and housing systems, and parenting support.
Thanks to this grant from Northwest Children’s Foundation, NGSP will be able to continue to support these clients, ensuring healthy outcomes for youth and their families by strengthening parents’ life skills and transitioning to safe and permanent housing.
