This year’s Celebration of Youth was a vibrant, energy-filled evening that brought together community members, employees, and program participants in a shared space of connection, celebration, and reflection to champion the vital mission of Friends of Youth.
The first Celebration of Youth event beautifully highlighted the magic that happens when we integrate our Homeless Youth Services (HYS) and Youth & Family Services (YFS), proving that housing stability and holistic wraparound supports go hand in hand.
Powerful Voices, Shared Truths
The heart of the evening was an unforgettable panel featuring program participants and employees who bring their own lived expertise to this vital work.
Eli and Anthony shared their inspiring journeys from homelessness toward stability, illustrating the life-changing impact of being able to lean on a full continuum of Friends of Youth services.
Mackenzie S. spoke passionately about why we must treat basic needs like food and housing alongside behavioral health, rather than separating them.
Kathy O. expanded on this by sharing a moving, real-world example of a young person she walked alongside through this integrated care.
Demitrius M. spoke to the immense power of mentorship in his own youth, and how that deep connection now fuels his impactful work with young adults at our Bridge Pointe program.
Krystal K. shared how Friends of Youth programs shaped her own life, and how she now leverages her lived expertise to help the next generation navigate complex systems.
The room was captivated. Attendees left raving about the panelists, moved by a powerful demonstration of what becomes possible when young people are truly centered and seen, when housing and mental health are understood as deeply interconnected, and how positive relationships, grounded in dignity and trust, can transform outcomes and strengthen pathways to stability, healing, and belonging.
Looking Forward Together
Events like Celebration of Youth do more than just share our work; they educate, inspire, and galvanize our community to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to succeed. It was a beautiful reminder of the passion, resilience, and heart that define the Friends of Youth family.
