At the heart of Foster Care Services are the youth we serve, and over the past several months we've had many reasons to celebrate. From welcoming new youth into our program to supporting youth through important transitions, we've continued to witness resilience, growth, and determination. We were especially excited to celebrate one youth beginning driver's education, an important milestone on the path toward independence. Thanks to our partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, a youth and caregiver also had the opportunity to attend a preseason football game, creating a fun and memorable experience while strengthening connections and building community.

These successes are made possible by community support. This summer, our team participated in the Bite of Seattle and presented to Gesa Credit Union and the Renton Rotary Club to raise awareness of foster care and Friends of Youth’s work.

These partnerships are increasing resources, volunteer engagement, and support for youth and caregivers. As part of our focus on financial literacy and independent living skills, we are connecting youth with banking resources, financial education, and money management opportunities to help prepare them for long-term independence. We are also grateful for DCYF’s positive feedback on our efforts to strengthen youth voice and engagement, ensuring young people’s perspectives remain central to planning and decision-making.

We are excited to see what the coming months bring and look forward to celebrating even more successes together!
