Friends of Youth is proud to announce the launch of Bridge Pointe Housing, a 90-day transitional housing initiative created to support young adults, ages 18 to 24, as they move from inpatient behavioral health treatment toward independent living. This program is the second in the state with the first in Spokane WA. Funded by the Washington State Health Care Authority, this program marks a significant advancement in our ongoing commitment to delivering healing-centered, equitable, and sustainable solutions for youth experiencing housing instability.
Bridge Pointe Housing offers a voluntary, short-term residential stay of up to 90 days, a critical window during which young adults can stabilize, recover, and begin to plan for their future within a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Each residence is intentionally designed to foster safety and community, providing trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services tailored to the unique needs and goals of each participant. More than a transitional housing solution, this initiative serves as a dignified and empowering bridge toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
The first Bridge Pointe Housing residence is scheduled to open this summer, with a second location to follow upon the completion of renovations and the necessary permitting process. Both homes will be staffed by trained professionals committed to youth development, mental health recovery, and culturally responsive care. These residences will serve as affirming spaces where young adults can reconnect with themselves and others, heal from past trauma, and regain a clear sense of direction.
We recognize the significant gap in support that often follows inpatient care. Too many young adults are discharged without access to consistent housing or continued care, placing them at risk for relapse, homelessness, and disengagement from essential services. Bridge Pointe Housing was developed in response to these systemic gaps, with the intention of co-creating solutions that promote stability, connection and well-being.
As we prepare to welcome our first residents, we are also actively engaging in the broader community. In the coming weeks, we will share additional details about the program, its integration with our existing services, and ways for community members, organizations and advocates to connect and collaborate in supporting youth to healing.
Bridge Pointe Housing is not simply a new program; it embodies our core values and reflects our steadfast belief in the resilience, strength, and potential of the young people we serve. It also reflects our responsibility to listen, adapt, and design services that center community voice, especially for youth impacted by behavioral health challenges and housing instability. We are grateful for your continued support as we take this significant step forward together.
