friends of youth summer programs



Friends of Youth is offering numerous opportunities for children, youth, young adults, parents, and caregivers to engage this summer in fun group activities at three of our Eastside office locations. Sessions are ‘pay what you wish,’ with a suggested donation of $20. Participants can drop in and choose how many sessions they would like to attend.

Middle School Survival, July 9 through August 20 |  Tuesdays | 11:00am - 1:00pm | Middle school-aged youth

Middle school can be a challenging time of transition and growth. In this group, we'll navigate the ups and downs of adolescence while building essential skills for success in school and beyond.

Walking Morning Meditation, July 15 through August 12 | Mondays | 9:30 - 10:30am Youth/young adults (ages 13+)

Join us for a refreshing journey into mindfulness through walking meditation. Discover the power of mindfulness in motion as we explore the beauty of nature, practice breathing exercises, and cultivate inner peace together.


Cinema & Conversations: Exploring Substance Use Through Film, July 10 through August 21 | Wednesdays | 11:00 am - 2:00 pm | Youth ages 14 and older

Summer fun meets meaningful discussions in this movie group focusing on substance use disorder. Connect with peers, enjoy free food, and engage in thought-provoking conversations inspired by films like Freedom Writers and 28 Days.

 

Anime & Relationships, July 12 through August 30 | Thursdays | 12:00 - 1:30 pm | Youth ages 14 - 18

Embark on a journey through the world of anime as we explore its portrayal of relationships and their real-life implications. Through discussions, clips, and creative activities, we’ll delve into the complexities of romantic connections and societal trends.

 

Art Exploration | Neurodiversity, July 12 through September 6 | Fridays | 12:40 - 2:30 pm Youth ages 12 - 14

In this explorative and creative space, we'll use art to investigate the beautiful world of neurodiversity. Together, we'll learn how to navigate impulsiveness, alleviate feelings of isolation, and clear away confusion. Through colors, shapes, and imagination, we'll discover new ways to express ourselves, interact with others, and understand our unique minds.

 

Tots and Toddlers Story Hour, July 8 through September 12 | Thursdays | 10:30 - 11:30 am | Young children ages 4 - 8 and parents

Nurture social-emotional skills in your little ones through engaging activities and interactive storytelling. Parents and children will learn together, building a foundation for emotional intelligence and healthy relationships.
