After screening and training, volunteers will be matched one-on-one with a parent under the age of 22 who is pregnant or parenting an infant. Each mentor spends 3-6 hours per month for a minimum of one year, visiting the young parent in their home. Mentors provide a non-judgmental listening presence, parenting information and community resources to their assigned family.
Parent Mentors:
- Reduce the isolation felt by young parents
- Promote positive parenting
- Encourage family independence
