24-HOUR SHELTER HOTLINE: (206) 236-KIDS

Youth Haven

These emergency shelters in Bellevue and Kenmore provide safe, stable temporary living alternatives to youth who are dealing with family crisis. The agency offers counseling and referral services to assist in the first steps toward family reconciliation or finding a safe, stable housing alternative.

Youth who want immediate shelter can call the 24-hour hotline listed on this page. It connects them with trained staff who determine whether the caller is eligible for shelter placement and make referrals, when appropriate, to other programs.

Licensed, live-in house parents provide guidance, supervision, and support for residents. Additionally, a Master’s-level clinical case manager meets with each resident and his or her family to work towards reconciliation. Family-style living offers youth an opportunity to learn how to become positive participants in their own homes, making the transition back to family life easier. While in the shelter, youth still attend school and participate in social activities and weekend outings.

Ages served: Homeless kids and teens age 11-17.

Requirements: Youth can come to the shelter by their own choice and remain there for approximately 30 days.

The Landing

Run in collaboration with the Bellevue Family YMCA, The Landing is an overnight shelter for homeless young adults, ages 18-25. Shelter staff and Outreach workers help residents meet basic needs for food, shelter and hygiene, and work with the youth to resolve the “root causes” of their homelessness.

The shelter is open Sunday through Thursday nights, starting at 9:00 pm. Participants are provided with dinner, showers, laundry service, clothing and breakfast in the morning. Residents may stay at the Landing up to 30 nights within a three-month period, with the possibility of extension.

Case managers and shelter staff help residents find resources including transitional living programs, food and clothing, pregnancy issues, employment, medical care, education, and counseling.

Ages served: Homeless young adults age 18-25.
