Position Title

    Drop-In & Street Outreach Program Coordinator

Description

    The Drop-in & Street Outreach Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing
    program development and service delivery for the Friends of Youth Drop-in and
    Street Outreach Programs. Responsibilities include weekly staffing of drop-in,
    program development for drop-in services 7 days a week, supervision of street
    outreach and drop-in center staff, developing community linkages and resource
    referrals for underserved and hard to serve youth. The Drop-in & Street Outreach
    Program Coordinator will work closely with the Shelter & Outreach Program
    Manager to ensure that young people engaged through drop-in and street outreach
    services are connected to longer term programs that will support their transition
    out of homelessness. The Drop-in & Street Outreach Coordinator oversees, under
    the direction of the Shelter & Outreach Program Manager, the drop-in and street
    outreach budget. The Drop-in & Street Outreach Program Coordinator will be
    required to write reports and support grant applications to acquire new funding
    dedicated to drop-in and street outreach programs.

Responsibilities

    A. Supervisory & Administrative Tasks
        1. Regular supervision of all Drop-in and Street Outreach staff
        2. Provision of training and initial hiring of Drop-in and Street Outreach Staff
        3. Manager the data collection process for drop-in and street outreach programs
        4. Work closely with the Shelter & Outreach Program Manager to meet reporting
        requirements for all grants impacting drop-in and street outreach programs
        5. Monitor and review program effectiveness through the PQI process
        6. Provide recommendations for program development to the Shelter & Outreach
        Program Manager
        7. In conjunction with the Shelter & Outreach Program Manager, manage
        the drop-in and street outreach program budget
        8. Regular engagement and support of Homeless Youth Services as part of the
        leadership/supervision team for the division

    B. Community Relations/Outreach
        1. Attend community meetings and assist in the implementation of the
        community outreach plan developed by Youth Havens (under 18 shelters),
        Safe Place, and the Street Outreach program
        2. In coordination with the Shelter & Outreach Program Manager, maintain a
        liaison relationship with school, police, health providers, churches, and other
        groups who might provide services or referrals to the program
        3. Support, maintain, and strengthen the Redmond Youth Service Center Youth
        Advisory Board in coordination with Drop-in, Outreach and Landing Staff
        4. Provide for and develop outreach presentations for public relations/outreach
        to Eastside youth and community members.
        5. Meet with other providers to share program information and coordinate
        services.

    C. Direct Service
        1. Supervise all drop-in and street outreach staff
        2. Provide drop-In floor coverage on a regular basis
        3. Ensure there is staffing to operate drop-in and street outreach services 7
        days a week
        4. Attend and participate in street based outreach to locate runaway and
        homeless youth on the streets on a monthly basis.
        5. Work with Senior Program Manager, Program Manager, Drop-in and Street
        Outreach staff to develop Drop-In policies, procedures, and structure to meet
        the needs of young people experiencing homelessness

Required Skills and Qualifications

    A. Education and Experience
        1. Bachelor's Degree in a social service related field or 5 years of direct
        service
        2. Three years experience working with adolescents/young adults
        3. One year experience supervising staff
        4. Education or experience in cultural competency.

    B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
        1. Familiarity with Eastside resources and an understanding of normal
        adolescent development.
        2. Familiarity with Trauma Informed Care and Harm Reduction practices
        3. Ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships (patience and
        perseverance).
        4. Ability to develop appropriate boundaries.
        5. Consistently maintain required paperwork.
        6. Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences.
        7. Comfortable interacting with youth in informal settings.
        8. Must demonstrate sensitivity to needs of clients in crisis.
        9. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth
        vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as
        defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their
        own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability
        insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
        10. Knowledge of relevant COA standards and participation in a Performance
        and Quality Improvement process.
        11. Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences
        and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.
