The IT Administrator is responsible for providing
ongoing, daily support for the technology used by the organization, enabling
Friends of Youth to achieve its organizational goals efficiently, in a cost
effective environment.
The IT Administrator will plan, coordinate, and
direct IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide
administrative direction, support, and maintenance of the daily operational
activities of the IT department. The IT Administrator will work closely with
other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support
cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide help desk support for the organization.
- Perform computer set up, builds and repair, computer and network additions and troubleshooting; assist with one or more aspects of most computer based projects.
- Perform IT related parts ordering.
- Track and manage projects at many locations.
- Administrate in-house Exchange and related servers plus other servers.
- Develop and assist developing documentation of systems and practices. Provides reports in a timely manner to supervisor as directed.
- Assists with technology planning through ongoing research of new and emerging applications and technologies.
- Must have well developed inter-personal skills and ability to work with culturally diverse groups.
- Must be able to work independently, be highly reliable, and able to think on your feet.
- Must be familiar with regulatory requirements for access to and protection of agency information, including but not limited to HIPPA requirements, secure email services.
- Must be able to support regular travel between our program locations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education and Experience
- 4 year degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Microsoft and other certificates preferred.
- 3+ years progressive experience as an IT engineer/administrator.
- Working knowledge and abilities with Windows server and workstation platforms, MS Exchange, Active Directory, Access and SQL databases, SharePoint.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of desktop applications.
- Knowledge of networking.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills - you need to be able to speak and write in clear English.
- Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to safely lift, carry, and handle computers and related equipment, up to about 30 lbs in weight, both in an office environment and to safely transport equipment between sites.
- Must be able to get to and work in a wide variety of office locations unassisted.
- Must be able to safely access and move all the typical kinds of places that computers, printers and network devices are typically placed. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
- Knowledge of relevant COA standards and participation in a Performance and Quality Improvement process.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.
