The young people we serve have become homeless often because of family violence, parents' mental health issues, chemical dependency and/or poverty. In fact, on any given night, up to 2,000 youths in King County are homeless–half of them are escaping violence in the home, while nearly 80 percent have been sexually abused or assaulted.
Friends of Youth has been steadfast in its commitment to engaging the issue. We provide young people with temporary safe shelter, but we also do much more than that: We help put them on a path to long-term stability.
