Confident Teen

The Children We Serve

Most of the youth we serve are in their teens and come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds–they could be your neighbors or your children’s classmates. However, these youth are dealing with a variety of challenges, both behavioral and developmental.

Many are dealing with issues that spring from coping with sexual and/or physical abuse. They often have a history that includes behavior such as aggressive or self-injurious behavior, substance abuse, sexual aggression, property destruction, running away, defiance, stealing, eating disorders, difficulty in understanding cause-and-effect relationships and serious family conflict. The youth sometimes find bonding with adults to be difficult and threatening.

With the help of the entire treatment team, our foster parents are able to work with these children to develop very clear, reasonable and enforceable limits, and help them through their time of crisis.
